I few months ago {ok, May 2009} had the privilege of shooting Whitney and John’s wedding at one of the most beautiful locations of the year, 108 Budleigh, in Manteo, NC. Whitney and John could be one of the sweetest couples I have ever met—and not to mention, they are freaking gorgeous!
I met Whitney a couple of times before the big day and she could hands down be one of the most organized brides I have worked ever worked with—there was not a single detail that was missed! She had the most amazing flowers & her huge bouquet of peonies to die for! I think I took about 30 pictures of them! I also found out that John was very particular is how things are done and is a creature of habit
In one of the speeches, his former roommate told us that he has eaten the same exact thing for lunch for YEARS. Impressive!
One other really amazing thing about this wedding was John & Whitney decided to see each other prior to the ceremony {“First Look”}—which we highly recommend! This gives us an opportunity to have up-close images of when you first see each-other and gives you plenty of time to have pictures together before the sun sets—{we can even fit in an additional stop if you wanted pictures in a second location}. Typically couples who choose to do a “First Look” session receive an additional 50-75 pictures of just the bride & groom.
Scared about superstitions? Did you know that not seeing the bride comes from the old days of arranged marriages? This was so the groom couldn’t run away if he wasn’t stoked about who his parents set him up with. Crazy, huh?
i digress….
Here are a ton of my favorites from the day—Any future brides looking for reception locations should strongly consider 108 Budleigh— it is a perfect place for a perfect day! I hope you all enjoy their pictures as much as I do!

doesn’t this dress have the most amazing beading? and the shoes….jack rogers have a special place in my <3

As soon as I shot this image I thought, “this will be an amazing {Sunday Snapshot}!!

i loved all of the little details of Whitney & John’s big day! shoes/rings/flowers/bamboo chairs…swoon!

Whitney is such a planner
This is her wedding binder and there were like 30 tabs—with EVERYTHING you could imagine in there
I’m pretty sure she is writing down the signature cocktails in this picture, but I’m not positive![]()

I couldn’t decide which was my favorite—so I included all three![]()

swoooon! This was one of the first images I popped out of my camera and I think I started yelling I was so excited
Aren’t they just the most beautiful couple?! The light, the colors, the <3–it is just perfect![]()
This starts all of the pictures that we were able to get done before the ceremony {minus the ones on the water}. We were able to do all of the family portraits/bridal party portraits and the bride & groom. hint hint![]()

I just LOVED the reception location—and the lighting was amazing!

another previous {Sunday Snapshot}

this crowd could DEFINITELY party!
There are so many things that happen to me throughout a wedding day that I just roll with {I’ve lost a shoe, I’ve been hit in the face with a car door, no food or water for 15+ hours} but I rarely notice it because there are SOO many other things going on! Whitney & John called me a few weeks after their big day to tell me they received their wedding video back and there were quite a few shots of me getting sandwich’d by guests on the dance floor! That is a new one for me—but it doesn’t surprise me! hahah

Whitney & John—I had such an amazing time being a part of your wedding day!
xoxo
