Welcome to my blog!

Hello! My name is Dana Duncan. I was born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia and have spent my entire life right here in Hampton Roads. I just wanted to tell you a little about my style and the how I try to capture the most important events in your life. Before shooting any session I like to get a feel for your personality, discuss what you want to get from the session, and the ideas I have in mind for you.

For portrait sessions I shoot using mostly natural light because I find it gives you the best images. I have some favorite places of mine to shoot any type of session, but I love to travel to the place of your choice. Where ever you are most comfortable is where we are going to get our best pictures. My goal is for you to have fun with your session, because it truly will come through in your images!

During weddings I try to take as many candid shots as I can. We will of course get all of the group poses and family portraits, but during the reception I focus on trying to capture everyone just as they are, the picture standing next to grandma and grandpa is good, but the one of them dancing or laughing is great.

Although being a photographer is my job, it is also my passion. I always strive to bring my clients exactly what they want as enthusiastically as possible. I am honored to be the person to capture all the most important milestones in your lives and I want that to come through in the images you get from me.

Hey Everyone! I know it has been a while since I’ve blogged, but I’ve just wrapped up the 2011 Wedding Season and I’m super excited about getting caught up on all my weddings from this year!

First up is Lauran & Todd’s big day! About two years ago I was out to eat with a friend and California Pizza Kitchen in Norfolk, VA and this super cute waitress came over to me—She was so sweet and the first words out of her mouth were, “You’re Dana Duncan Photography, aren’t you?!.” I almost spit my drink right out because for the first time, someone other than my family & close friends had made a reference to my business. I felt kinda like a Z-list celebrity and it was AWESOME—I know that sounds ridiculous, but meeting people that know you are based on your work kinda makes it feel like you’ve made it Lauran then proceeded to tell me that her & her boyfriend, Todd, weren’t engaged yet, but she knew I was going to be their wedding photographer! I loved her instantly. Soon after Todd & Lauran were engaged and we made it official

Laura & Todd’s ceremony and reception were held at her mothers home in Suffolk, VA and it was so amazing! Lauran owns a vintage furniture rental company {Something Old, Something Borrowed Event Rentals} and her wedding was filled with some of the most amazing decor I’ve ever seen at an event! Seriously, you are going to be amazed by all of the fun stuff below Amy Stanley, owner of Style By Design, rocked out some amazing graphics and a photobooth backdrop to die for. She made all of those flowers BY HAND. Hats off to you Amy! The rest of the day was filled with lots of beautful moments, a touching ceremony and some amazing dancing that lasted into the night.
